20 years ago, my childhood friend was dating Mark Masterson, the head of the Alvirne Granite State Challenge team. When the team got letter jackets, there was the inevitable lending-to-the-girlfriend and the-best-friend-of-the-girlfriend. Although it was a different high school, we were suddenly linked to celebrity - I had had no idea that GSC was so popular. I hope that the tradition of recognizing brains and wit continues in all the team’s schools.
